Black and white is probably the most classic combination there is, basic and original. It’s original and there are so many ways to describe the combo; the light and the dark, the good and the evil or the scary and the safe. I always used to say black and white weren’t colors, they were shades and that made them different in my mind. One wasn’t better than the other, they were just different shades in the giant spectrum that is reflective light.
I love these wire wine bottle candle sticks because they bring both of those ideas together. The literal of the black wire and the white candle but also the imaginative aspect of the dark and heavy base against the light and bright top. This mural at Haight and Masonic does the same. It is dark and scary in some parts but once you notice the light you learn to appreciate the darker parts along the way. It is beautiful in all of its colors, dimensions and shades, accentuating and bringing life to the most classic color combo out there.
